About the course
This new training programme builds upon >15 years of clinical research expertise in ALSMND and the ALSFTD spectrum. You will learn about the types of behavioural symptoms, with examples of how they present in daily life, and expanding your understanding about how these symptoms present in clinical practice. You will also learn about their impact on the person living with ALSMND and their families. You will learn how to use a validated screening tool, the MiND-B, applying clinical reasoning and becoming more confident to talk to patients and families about these symptoms. You will also have the opportunity to tailor a clinical pathway to use it in the implementation of the assessment in your clinical practice.
Professor Eneida Mioshi
I am an occupational therapist by background (University of Sao Paulo, Brazil), with a PhD in Applied Cognitive Psychology (University of Cambridge, UK). I have extensive experience in applied research, investigating the impact of neurodegenerative diseases in daily life, in particular frontotemporal dementia and motor neuron disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Over the years I have developed clinical assessments and educational programmes to support families and health and social care professionals. This MiND-B programme is one example of translating research findings into clinical practice. You can find my biography here: https://ativar.co.uk

What people are saying
Feedback from professionals who have been through the programme
The online training was very user friendly & not at all overwhelming. I found the pathway template in the live session really helpful to look at, in terms of moving forward after the assessments & having an end goal

I think it’s an excellent tool and will be very helpful in identifying areas of concern, and helping us better support patients and families in reassuring them that changes are as a result of the dissase and not done on purpose
United Kingdom
Splitting up the modules into digestible sessions and listing the duration of each enabled me to manage my time efficiently and fit in sessions between clinical commitments. The video clips were clear and concise and supporting learning well
